Organ and tissue donation is important to me because it gave me a second chance at life. After battling cancer and the aftermath of my radiation, I suffered sudden liver failure due to medication. I was critically ill and without a transplant I would not be here today. Because one person chose to register as an organ donor, and their family honoured that decision, I was given the chance to watch my daughters continue to grow, celebrate milestones I never thought I’d see, and look forward to the future. Every day I wake up is a gift made possible by someone else’s incredible act of kindness. I will forever be grateful to my donor and hope to honour their legacy by encouraging others to register.
