The South Asian Gift of Life committee is a group of Markham community leaders consisting of Residents, Health Care Professionals, Government‎ Officials, and Community Workers who have come together to form an awareness campaign affecting the South Asian Community regarding organ and tissue donation. In collaboration with the City of Markham, our committee is committed to doing our part in bringing this important message to the large South Asian community of Markham. The Markham Chapter - South Asian Gift of Life committee will work collectively with key community agencies and government bodies to raise awareness of this special cause and help increase the number of donor registrations in the South Asian community. Every three days someone dies in Ontario because of this life-saving organ transplant they need is not available, yet only 25% of Ontarian's have registered their consent to be a donor. Our aim is to raise awareness of the importance and many benefits of organ donations within the community. Registering to be a donor might be the greatest gift you ever give. If you hope a live-saving transplant would be available for your friends and loved ones, please register today! Join us at The Markham Chapter - South Asian Gift of Life Forum to get all your questions answered. This Forum will be hosted by Regional Councillor Nirmala Armstrong and Councillor Logan Kanapathi. Date: Saturday Oct 10, 2015 Time:1:30 - 5:00 pm Location: Council Chambers, Markham Civic Centre 101 Town Centre Boulevard, Markham, ON L3R 9W3 Refreshment will be served during this time.
