3% to my goal of 150

I am pleased to announce that Temiskaming Hospital will be participating in BeADonor Month 2021. Right now, almost 1,500 Ontarians are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant and every three days, someone dies waiting. Timiskaming South has a registration rate of 55% with 10,017 registered donors out of a possible 18,336 who are health card holders. Our goal at the end of BeADonor Month 2021 is to sign up 150 additional donors and, by the end of March 31st, 2022, have a 58% registration rate for possible donors. By registering to be a donor, you recognize that your death can have the power to save or change someone’s life. In fact, one donor can save up to eight lives through the gift of heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, pancreas and intestines. Another 75 lives can be enhanced through the gift of tissue: eyes can restore sight; skin can help burn patients; bones can be used for join replacements; heart valves can help patients with congenital heart disease and tendons and ligaments can help recipients walk and run. I want to thank you all in advance for your participation in helping us reach our goal. Temiskaming Hospital respects and appreciates our staff whose personal or religious beliefs do not support organ donation. Becoming a donor is a personal decision that only you have the power to make. For those interested, please follow us along on our journey to reach our goal. By sharing and interacting with our posts on Facebook, you can help spread the message while helping us reach our goal. Together, we can build a nation of donors.
